My story

My name is Omer Uziel, born in 1983. I am a dancer, creator, and Ilan Lev Method practitioner, a field I have been engaged in for several years. I have completed extensive training in the Ilan Lev Method, including the basic therapy training course, the movement teacher course, the advanced course, and the leadership course. I work as a dancer and teacher, integrating this technique into my practice.

Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in choreography at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. I am honored to have won first place in the 2024 Gertrud Kraus Choreography Competition.

Additionally, I studied for two years in the choreography program at 'Kelim' Choreography Center, led by Anat Danieli.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences from Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College.

As a dancer, I trained with the 'De-De Dance' company under the direction of Amit Goldenberg and the late Yaara Dolev. I have danced for and collaborated with a wide range of choreographers, including: Prof. Amos Hetz, Anat Danieli, Michal Samama, Shaked Mochiach, Uri Shafir, Tami Leibovitz, Maya Levy, Or Marin, Anat Katz and Erez Maayan, Efrat Rubin, and more.

I am a contemporary dance teacher at 'Hakvutza' dance school.

I have created works for various dance festivals in Israel, including 'Shades in Dance' at the Suzanne Dellal Center, 'Intimadance' at Tmuna Theater, Composer-Choreographer at 'Hateiva' Theater, 'Diablog' at Warehouse 2, Jaffa Port, and 'Dance Arena' at the 'Hazira' theater in Jerusalem.

Additionally, I participated in the Dancer in the Community project, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, where I led movement workshops for diverse communities in Akko and Afula.

Ilan Lev Method

The Ilan Lev Method is a touch therapy technique that focuses on skeletal movement and the flow of energy throughout the body.
By encouraging natural movement, the method helps the body release tension, overcome functional limitations, and open new channels of movement. This process expands the body’s movement repertoire, discovers new movement patterns, and enables release from pain.
During a treatment session, the patient lies on a treatment table while the practitioner gently moves their body through various movements from various angles. This approach often leads to profound discoveries, both on a physical and mental level.
The Ilan Lev Method is effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including back, neck, knee, and ankle pain, herniated discs, migraines, circulatory problems, emotional blockages, and chronic problems that have not been addressed.

Background and vision

I was introduced to the world of dance and movement at a relatively late age, after my military service, similar to many Israeli dancers.

Initially, the connection between dance and therapy was not direct, though both paths developed in parallel. Over the years, I participated in various courses led by Ilan Lev, and the clinical and therapeutic experience I have gained over the past decade eventually bridged my two main passions: movement and healing.

During my work as a dancer, I sustained injuries to my knees and back, and the Ilan Lev Method helped me overcome the pain, refine my movement, and most importantly, taught me how to move correctly—with joy and without effort.

My motivation stems from a deep desire to help others. I approach this work by listening to each patient’s "pulse of life," allowing movement to flow through them from any possible place and direction.

The focus of the therapy is on the person as a whole, rather than just the point of pain. When someone experiences conflict or pain, the goal is to strengthen the entire system rather than isolate the affected area. The idea is to activate the stronger parts of the body, thereby relieving pressure on the more sensitive areas. Pain serves as a "compass" or guide, directing movement to reduce discomfort and reveal a new way of being.

The ultimate goal is to help the patient reconnect with themselves as a dynamic entity that is constantly evolving and adapting. Through the dialogue between the practitioner's body and the patient's body, a third, new body is created—one that allows for the development of new ways of sensing and feeling while releasing old patterns that no longer serve the individual.

The treatment encourages a full “system update,” integrating body, mind, and spirit.

I believe that through honest interaction, functional limitations can be lifted, providing solutions for challenges related to impairments, injuries, and disabilities. The treatments effectively address circulation issues, alleviate pain, and assist in resolving skeletal, joint, and other physical restrictions.

I have gained extensive experience in treating dance and sports injuries through both personal experience and working within the dance community. Over time, I have developed expertise in helping individuals overcome physical challenges and enhance their movement capabilities.
